Co-trimoxazole Paediatric suspension 240 mg/5ml
Composition:
Each 5 ml contains:
Trimethoprim BP 40mg
Sulfamethoxazole BP 200mg
Indications:
co-trimoxazole should be limited to the role of drug of choice in Pneumocystis
jirovecii (Pneumocystis carinii) pneumonia; it is also indicated for toxoplasmosis
and nocardiasis. It should now only be considered for use in acute exacerbations
of chronic bronchitis and infections of the urinary tract when there is good
bacteriological evidence of sensitivity to co-trimoxazole and good reason to
prefer this combination to a single antibacterial, similarly it should only be used
in acute otitismedia in children when there is good reason to prefer it.
